So many new things

Well...it has been a while since I have updated and I'm sorry I haven't been on top of it.  I mean I have been busy, watching all my day time TV like Day of Our Lives and The View but I think it's probably time to finally update you all on what we have been up to, although it might be a long update.

First, we finally had a free weekend where Jordan wasn't working and it was the first game that USA played in the world cup.  So we decided to go into "the city" to watch the game.  We decided to meet a couple of Jordan's friends from college and Rachel Armor in the city to watch the game.  So we hoped on the express train from Stamford CT to Grand Central station and off we went on our first train ride from Connecticut to "the city" (everyone in CT calls New York City "the City").

We ended up having a great weekend with Jordan's friends from college all day watching the game and after and then staying with Rachel Armor.  Rachel was a wonderful host and on sunday showed us around their neighborhood.  We had a wonderful brunch and afternoon of shopping with Rachel and then headed back to CT for our drive back to Woodbury.

The next weekend happened to be a big one...it was Jordan's 24th Birthday!!  His Aunt and Cousin came up from Virginia and his Mom surprised him from Iowa.  Although he had to work on his Birthday we still we able to take day trips and still make the weekend a special celebration.  On Sat afternoon we went to Mystic CT which is most famous for the movie Mystic Pizza being taped there.  It is a great little town that is right on the water with a little main street full of restaurants and shopping.  We walked around the downtown area for a while doing a little shopping and then ended up at a great little restaurant called S&P Oyster Company right on the water.  We ordered a yummy round of raw oysters.  It happened to be 3 out of 5 of our first times having raw oysters and we all left loving oysters and discovering our yummy fresh new england oysters are. After the great day at Mystic we came back to the area and went to a fun B-day dinner for Jordan at a tasty restaurant called Julio's Wood Fired Pizza in Southbury CT.  We had such a great weekend with Jordan's family and thank them so much for coming for the weekend and celebrating Jordan's Birthday with us!

That is the Mystic Pizza restaurant in the back ground.  We found out that they did about a quarter of their taping at the actual place and then had an exact replica built outside of the town to do the rest of the taping so they weren't disrupting the little town of Mystic.

This past weekend we were invited to join Jordan's boss and his wife, Chase and Emily, down in Fairfield (where they live) to watch the USA World Cup Game and then to dinner.  Fairfield is a town right on the coast about 30 min away from where we live.  We had such a great time with the two of them and in Fairfield.  It was such a great town with a lot of restaurants and shopping downtown and a much younger crown then in Woodbury.  We ended up going to dinner at a Thai restaurant and Jordan was in heaven.  Ever since we moved here he has been craving Thai food and we haven't found a place by us yet.

We are so excited to be going home this weekend for Mallory and Nicks wedding and of course to see both of our families.  It is the first time that we will be home since we moved.  Also we are so excited for our friends Amy and Mike to visit next week so we can show them our new home!

Busy travels

Well, it's been a while since the last post but a lot has been happening since then.  Both Jordan and I were able to take trips and get a little break and vacation from our new lives in Connecticut.

I went on a girls trip with the lovely women of my family including my aunts, cousins, sister, and mom to Santa Monica, CA over mother's day weekend.  The main event of the weekend was going to the Ellen Show which as most of you know turned out to be a wonderful experience, but we were also able to get some girl time in and all catch up.  It was so nice to be with all of my favorite women and of course to do some celebrity watching.  Lindsey and I were on the lookout all weekend and we ended up seeing a lot of different celebs around Santa Monica.

One of the best meals of the weekend was when we were able to take our Mom's to the Ivy for mother's day brunch.  For those of you that are not familiar with the Ivy it is a very famous restaurant that celebs frequent.  My cousin Ashley and I were the first ones to stumble on the restaurant and find that they had an opening for brunch.  As we walked out the door to call the rest of the group to let them know to head our way we happened to pass Kelly Rutherford, the mom from gossip girl!  We also saw Jonah Hill and Kimora Lee, needless to say it was a big day and such a wonderful and fun brunch with the ladies and moms.

As I said before though, the main event on the weekend was the Ellen Show.  We got to the show VERY early because we were going to be first in line to get good seats.  After waiting in line for a while and getting our tickets they came around and pulled people out of line to come back and talk with two Ellen staff members about the show.  Four of us from our 7 person group were pulled out to talk with the staff.  After talking with the staff and them getting our information we were told that there could be a chance of us being on the show.  As we met up with the rest of our group and were seated in the studio we were all so excited just to be at the show but also to know that there was a chance we could be on the show.  The whole before hand and during the show is so fun, if you ever get a chance to go to the show TAKE IT!  It is a big party the whole time, lots of music, dancing, and laughing.  Well, like I said most of you know the story but I ended up being called down to the stage to play a game and my sister and cousin joined me to play it also.  We played one where I was in a big plastic ball and the two of them were blindfolded and pushing the ball to get into a circle, and WE WON!  Because we won I was invited back a couple days later to the show to play another game for a chance to win a new car.  My mom and I both had to say goodbye to the rest of the women and ended up extending our stay 4 more days and got to go to the show again!  The whole trip, Ellen experience, and having the chance to be with all the women of my family was so much fun and made me realize just how lucky I am!

Waiting in line for Ellen

A week after I got back from California, Jordan left for Mexico to go on a guys trip with all his buddies from college.  He was there for 4 days and had so much fun catching up with all his buddies and re-living his college days.  I'm sure after all of those guys were there, Mexico is just not sure what hit it.  After 4 days of sun, adult drinks, and not a lot of sleep they were all ready to come home, but were not ready to get back to the real world.  For a week after they got back emails were going back and forth about how they just couldn't get back into the working hours and were already ready to get back into the sun with a drink in their hands.

Now, the two of us are back in Connecticut and ready to do some exploring and small trips with in our own state.  Jordan's next weekend off we are going to do some exploring and I'm sure there will be many stories to share!
